John Houston

Director

My name is John Houston II. I served 2 years in the National Guard as a Forward observer and 4 years on Active duty as a Light wheel Mechanic.

I got out of the military in 2001 and went to college, obtaining degrees in Criminal Justice and Social Justice.  I worked in a state prison in Taylor, Texas and a detention facility for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement. I left law enforcement when I began working in mortgage servicing in 2007. I worked for large servicing companies until 2023 until I went to school to get my MLO license. I have worked for Supreme Lending, and I am currently a Loan Officer at Highlands Residential Mortgage.

I have been married to my best friend Sally since 2019 and we have 4 children. I volunteer with a lot of organizations, including my wife’s nonprofit.

I am the past Commander at Farmersville VFW Post 7426. I have been the Post Service officer for 7 years. I volunteer with the 3 Masonic lodges that I am a member. I take Vets to appointments and assist them with filing their VA claims and navigating the confusing VA system. I have helped over 400 Vets, their widows, and children.

The Repatriated Foundation is a small group of combat Veterans that support an effort to combat homelessness and provide social stimulus for Disabled and homeless Vets.

They have a volunteer pastor, volunteer counselors, volunteer a volunteer property manager. I volunteer a lot of time for them. I take disabled Vets hunting and fishing. I also take them to VA or local medical appointments, delivered large and heavy items, take out trash cans, repair homes, install ADA necessities and even cut their hair.
